“VarieTEASE Venue unVeiling” a FUNdraiser of sorts

babyBLUESTAR Productions (VarieTEASE, Peek-a-Boo Lounge, Dirty Bingo and The Barber Fund) presents The VarieTEASE Venue unVeiling. Throughout the years you have followed this cheeky circus from Southern Nights, Pulse Orlando, The Parliament House, The Orlando Fringe Festival, and various venues in between. You have seen the show grow from a “Drag Show on Steroids” to a “Theatrical Love Affair”, and now the 2012-2013 Season is here in a NEW SPACE. 

This is a beginning of a dream that Owner, Creator, Visionary of babyBlueStar Productions llc, Blue, has had from the beginning. “To be able to create the adventure from beginning to end is all I have ever wanted to do” Blue says. “I want to give Downtown Orlando a destination, a place to go where the Art is interesting, where you will bring your friends, and return to over and over again. This is VarieTEASE and Orlando NEEDS this!”

Blue has been a fan of Julio Lima’s (Owner/Creative Activist “SAY IT LOUD”) work for quite sometime. In the early 2000’s they worked together on an ever so sultry Scan Design promo that made furniture look daring and provocative. Blue loved the way Lima pushed boundaries and his no fear approach to art.

The VarieTEASE Venue unVeiling will be adorned with some of your VarieTEASE favorites: Michelina Wingerter, William Marchante, and newest cast member Maya Andrews. They will also be joined by the Ladies of The Peek-a-Boo Lounge Kissa von Adams, Gabby “Barbarella” Brown (Dead Body Friendship Fringe 2012), and Nicole “Nicki Jay” Jackson (2011 Amateur Burlesque Winner). Also, singing an outtake from “Blue Hotel” Sassy Devine, excerpts from Blue and Tod Kimbro’s “Too Drunk to F….ringe”, the beautiful voice and talent from SUNNY ( Procrastination), to dazzle with strange oddities Will Rotten of The Rotten Bros and the Mad Magician himself Anton James, and bringing paint to canvas, the interesting works of Steph Wood.

In order to make this BIG DREAM happen we need your support! Blue has put together a VarieTEASE FUNdraiser that will knock your pasties off!

As I was looking through my rolodex of upcoming events, I NOTICED that my life is full of color and I am lucky to have the freedom to live and breathe as an Artist… AND that all of you are willing to participate in all of these endeavors. It is my responsibility to see that ORLANDO not be a boring, dull, non-dimensional City and that Everyone from ALL WALKS of LIFE has something AWESOME to do.

Let’s keep it simple. I will lay them out for your perusal in a fashion that is easily comparable and you can decipher it all for yourselves….

(in this moment I would also like to note that I have come to terms with suddenly not being able to spell and Thanking God everyday for SpellCheck) Is this something that is happening to society due to the evolution of technology??? We will embark on that thought the next go around. Just note that throughout this passage I have already contemplated about how to spell “realize” nine thousand times…. I mean it’s just REALIZE, but my brain won’t REALIZE that I know how to spell the effen word. I often REALIZE that I will use other words instead or quickly rephrase the sentence (something Mrs. Burns taught me in High School French class). Now I remember that Mrs. Burns taught me that in HIGH SCHOOL but I can’t REALIZE that I have forgotten how to spell the simplest words in the English Language…. It must be technology, surely it is NOT my brain…  

sigh….

GYM LOCKER ROOM ETIQUETTE….

A friendly reminder to all!  Not everyone is as “open” as you are….You know who are…YOU are that person in the gym locker room with your stuff all spread out on the bench, no flip flops and CLEARLY the one lacking AN EXTRA TOWEL. 

(note: the ONE towel that you bring should be utilized to cover your body parts, espcially your “lady or man parts”.) 

listen we have all been there:

You go to the gym and dont’ have enough time to go home to shower, so you must use the gym. You walk into the shower room and pass the one other person in there and of course there curtain is WIDE OPEN as they are bending over and toweling off. REALLY? You then shower, dry off WITH THE CURTAIN CLOSED and then put on your bra and panties IN THE SHOWER (water not running clearly).

You then make your way to dressing area, open the door and first stumble upon the pungent smell of cheap perfume and then as thick as the odor wall….BOOM! there it is, a mock up of the seventies, long and not so lovely and untouched for YEARS. Clearly you must have walked in at the one moment of nakedness, but NO!  Where is their towel???? OH, wrapped so perfectly on their head.!!! REALLY?

This “minute” goes on for the duration of the locker room visit. Make-up is done, lotion applied (which by the way requires a good LEG UP if you know what I mean) Hair blown dry and all the while STILL no FLIP FLOPS or PANTIES for that matter.

Needless to say, it is a great study of body movement. However, more like one of those ANATOMY classes that you could FOREVER dO WITHOUT.

So if you shower at the gym KEEP YOUR PARTS to YOURSELF unless you want me to remind you that razors can be bought in a 3pack for $3 at Big Lots and a pair of Flip Flops for $3 at Old NAvy.

FOR US it could be the best $6 you EVER SPEND!

When I gave myself the name BLUE almost 13 years ago…I thought to myself, “Good Job oh creative one, you have surpassed the Name Game and will forever go down in history as BLUE…or babyBLUE….or BLUE STAR….or BLUE STARR” or whatever the Pdiddy/Puff Daddy/Sean combs moment would be.

I have encountered a few “blues” in my life, DOGS mostly, peppared in with a few artists and I was ok with that.

UNTIL JAN 2012- damn it….. The day was so nice outside. Orlando  was experiencing Global Warning at it’s finest and I woke up in a great mood….Something far different from 2011. Coffee, turn on computer and open the FB and there it was. plastered on my wall, BEYONCE named her baby “BLUE” WTF? You must be joking. Dig the sleepy out of my eyes, sip my caffeine and look one more time, “Celebrity crazy name of the year “BLUE”. CRAZY???? for real? Beyonce? for real? FML.

This of course changes my mark in history as I will be surperceded by the cuteness of that little brown baby. sigh

Two days later I accepted the news as I introduced myself at an event….”What’s your name?”

“Blue.”  I replied

“LOU?” 

“BLUE” this is where I insert, “like the color”

but instead to mark the change in society I said, 

“BLUE, LIKE BEYONCE’s BABY”

“OH” they said and then moved on in conversation. Not, “oh what a great name” or anything like that…. for the first time in 13 years it was just “blue”.

To me this just dictates that Beyonce has been right this whole time and will continue to “RUN the WORLD”

just sayin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All things must come to an end…..and that would clearly entail 2011!!!!!!!!!!

2012 will bring a year of change and growth (I suddenly sound like I am writing a horoscope) Dreams will come true and those Birthday Candle wishes that have been made will come true.

I will have many firsts without my dear friend John “tweeka” Barber, but will know that he is with me on my endevours of 2012. The BARBER FUND will help more people living with Cancer and we will revel in those triumphs by throwing some of the most awesome FUNdraisers to date!

Standards are high! Let’s make it all happen together!

I am grateful for my AMAZING friends and Family and so excited to work with the TALENTED People who dare call what we do “work”.

The one thing I have noticed is that MORE PEOPLE can HIJACK your ideas. I pride myself on be creative and pushing the envelope and NOT doing what OTHER PEOPLE are DOING. And then you look on your fb, fb invites etc etc… and someone is using your names, looks, ideas……………… IT really grosses me out!
